Mount Desert Island, Maine, USA. Cadillac Mountain, at 1532 feet (470 meters), is the highest point on the east coast from Canada to Rio. Sunrise there is the first seen in the US. Taken this morning, the sun rose above the fog on the ocean, with the small islands off Bar Harbor visible as the fog began to dissipate. Enjoy!

To me this is a 'once in a lifetime' shot, Thad. Almost surrealistic.
Beautiful in all ways. Saved & faved of course!

This is a very beautiful sunrise Thad - as Cornelius said a rare one. I like the way the low clouds, the land in front and the people are bathed in the orange glow. How did you get up there so early? :)

Thad...

Who would have thought of taking a photo of fog? Great idea I must say. It's a breathtaking photo. What's the deal with your shots and tourists?

Your best to date I would say. If that isn't a Norman Rockwell scene, I don't know one.

I can't figure out how I missed this image. I probably clicked on the wrong thing by mistake. I'm glad I found it though. What a beauty, Thad. That sky is jaw dropping in beauty, and the rest of the scene is fantabulous. A real WOWSER.

I've seen something like this where I live but in a much smaller version. The clouds and fog look like an ocean with big waves. Amazing photo!
