Mount Desert Island, Maine, USA (Acadia National Park). In 1604, the French explorer Samuel Champlain gave the island its current name, l'Isles des Monts-déserts or Mount Desert Island because the mountain tops were without trees because the glacial retreats had stripped the soil from them, leaving only exposed pink granite. The rocky shorelines are a mix of varied colored granite. Enjoy!

Another big time WOWSER, Thad. I love that sky, the pine trees on the rocks, and that blue water. Super duper image.

Another food one Thad. I liked the the other better because it had such a great foreground that led you into the shot. This is a very close second. I can imagine sightseeing from the bluff up ahead. Clouds and colors are stupendous.

Thad, viewing your image at full screen size, gives me the feeling that I'm there in real. Don't however smell the salty air. The reason could be that I caugh a cold, lol.
Wonderful post again, my friend.

Thad....

Maine looks like a great place for camping and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. I think this one is my favorite of your Maine shoreline shots. Great colors, a glorious sky and some great rocks. I'm sure that half of the boulders were once tourists.
