Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas. This Green Turtle, among a number of them in this lagoon, got to cruising speed quickly. The name comes from tones in their skin, not the shell color. They eat sea grass, so they have a serrated-edged jaw. (24-70mm lens w/polarizing filter.) Enjoy!

Nice shot of the green turtle under water Thad. That shell and the head are unusual.

I've enjoyed your foray into this realm of photography, Thad.

Compositions have been strong.. and you handled the technical side of things well.

This one is particularly nice to my eyes.. on the notes of textures, colours within frame. And of course.. the green turtle itself.

Thanks for sharing your efforts behind the lens and bringing these images to us.

I think I saw this one a while back but for the life of me can't figure out why I didn't leave a comment. I must have been pulled away by some emergency... like we were out of corn chips or something. Anyway, I have a screen saver I made for all my Macs (at home and work) whose every image involves water. They're all favorites of either mine or ones I found here at Caedes, and this one is definitely going in that collection. Wow. Not only is the polarizing filter reducing glare on the water's surface but the colors are brilliant. You must have set it at a darker setting for this. I'm guessing that because it was shot through the surface of the water it wasn't quite as crisp as you'd have liked and so rendered it with filters. It could almost masquerade as an abstract but my mind and eye keeps identifying the outlines of all the turtle's surfaces, keeping my mind working (not a bad thing; I'm 62 and can definitely use some mind exercise). The close crop and composition also gives the viewer the sensation that they're almost in the water with the turtle. Love it.
