Two weeks ago in Sud Tirol, up near the Italian/Austrian border. Some wonderful wines come from this region. I experimented cropping the bottom weeds out, but then the image lost considerable depth. Open for suggestion. Grazie :-)

Beautiful image in 3 levels Doug. The Forest with its autumn colours and the Vineyard in front with the building look very nice.

It's well composed, and an attractive site. I think you could have left a bit more of the foreground vegetation if just for better balance and to accentuate the groomed vineyard.

I think it was fine that you left the grasses in the image, our eyes are lead right to the actual scene, with some fantastic lines, this is very nice Doug. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I've tried to imagine how I would have composed this image Doug, and came to the conclusion that it's a rather hectic job. To me, you achieved the best possible result, so giving us a very good impression about the Süd Tirol region and its vineyards. Cheers (oder Prosit?, lol), my friend!

Regards, Cornelius.

this looks good Doug,
The composition has a feel of the required rule of thirds....I could sample a few bottles of the wine too.

I agree with Bob - the rule of thirds is at work in this and it feels just right and the sight lines are marvelous Doug - it could be on the brochure for this vineyard!

Great scene. If the winos could stay as straight as the vines, their life would be good.
I would need to see the original before I offered any suggestions.

Personally am fascinated with the effect here - enormous depth and perspective and I would not change a thing - no that I would ever know how LOL
Fantastic image to end this year with.

Doug, you've captured the rolling hillsides so well here. The parallel nature of the vines stands out splendidly here.

A lovely view of the vineyard. Good lighting, colours and composition of the photo. I would have left more in the foreground and cropped the top down to the tree top.

The only problem I see is that some crazy person lopped off the top of that big pine, forever stunting its growth (or perhaps Mother Nature did that). I've been meaning to comment on this one since I first saw it, really enjoying the arrangement of layers here. Most photos are a challenge in depth by their very nature; a static view of a scene. Only HDR would have given this one more depth but I find that when HDR is used on highly detailed images like this one, all it manages to do is make a headache out of it. No, although I have no idea what those weeds looked like, I rather doubt leaving them in would have done your image justice. When I look at a shot like this my eye and mind automatically start to pull apart the layers of depth and, when I do that I often start to see things I hadn't noticed before, like the tiny, roofed chimney, the power lines on the other side of the structure, and that yellow device on the left side (whatever it is). I like an image that makes me think. By the way, cropping the background down to the tree would have removed that distant rise(?) or mountain(?) and therefore reduced even more depth. I think it's great just the way it is. -Nik
