I depart tomorrow for a little vacation in the U.S.A., so I'll be absent for a few weeks. I'm going to celebrate my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary! Their first date was in this 1940 Lincoln Continental, which has been part of our family until present. Dating, wedding, honeymoon, babies (me) home from the hospital, car caravans in 17 states, 25th and 50th anniversary trips. Dad's kept her up and restored through the years. Thank the Lord they are both healthy and still..very much in love.

This picture is not only beautiful because of their relationship itself..but how rare one like that has become. Nowadays people just live together, or divorce because they would rather run away from problems than work hard to fix them. Its beautiful because it is true love. "Love never fails."

Now this is a photographic tribute to the best we can hope for. We take photos of beautiful sunsets over lakes, animals we come across while hiking or some goofy thing our cat is doing and our favorite car... and these are fine and expected subjects. Those are small vignettes of life. Who we spend and share that life with, however, is the most important subject of all. The photos we take of our spouse and children are the absolute proof that we are alive and contributing our essence to the family of man. My wife and I will celebrate our 34th anniversary in a little over 2 months and we've created a pretty decent family history in that time... I'm trying to envision 60 years together! The mere fact that your parents remember the feeling they had in the b&w and wanted to reproduce it in the new photo means they've passed that concept of commitment along to their children. My folks are both gone and I can't think of anything even vaguely resembling this concept that we kids got from them. Your parents are lucky they found each other and I envy what you've obviously learned from them. A continued happy and long life to them. I'm officially and independently reactivating the c-index for one minute to allow a vote on this photo montage. One has a slight moiré pattern and the other a soft focus but the real quality to measure is the content. You get a 100 on this one, Doug. -Nik

I wish you a great vacation then and happy anniversary to your beloved parents. You should present them this photo collage as a gift. It is so touching. I am sure they would be delighted. It looks as they are as happy now as they were 60 years back, together.

After seeing your post today of the 40 Lincoln Continental, I had to return and pay my respects to you and your wonderful parents Gibbs.
One can only hope to duplicate just a portion of the love they share.
