Unfortunately, I know nothing about birds other than they fly and chirp. I've been inspired by others here on Caedes to try my hand at bird photography. This bird was on a terra cotta roof that offered a little texture to the shot. I am soliciting your honest critiques to see how to improve in this genre of photography. As always, thanks for looking and leaving a comment.

Doug, to me it could be a sparrow, but I'm not a bird specialist either. So where's Richie (biffobear) to give us the proper name for it, lol.

Very nice capture and a pretty rare one anyhow, because a fiddler on the roof is more familiar to me than a singing bird on a roof. Perhaps it has seen the fiddler and supports him in a musical way now.

That's a pretty bird, and a great looking shot, Doug. I love the DOF. Well done.

My technique is Point, focus, shoot. And that's the truth!

I see nothing wrong in this Doug. The sparrow(I think) is in perfect focus and his markings and feathers are well detailed, the background is properly blurred - looks like a super capture to me.

Great shot. The progressive lead-in from out of focus to perfect sharpness on a diagonal, and back to fading sharpness, maximizes the dominance of the well placed subject.

You capture this bird in a great pose on the terra cotta and the detail in the bird is outstanding and I like how you have a soft blur to part of this scene it helps to bring out the detail in the bird.Plus most of all for me you managed to capture the light in the birds eye giving it life .Well done to a lovely capture Doug!

Dear little bird and I love that terra cotta roof. It actually looks as though it is resting on little pillows :)
Perfect focus on the sparrow and nice DoF. If it were mine I would be delighted with it :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
