On a recent walk through Venice, I pressed my nose to a closed door into this man's workshop. I snapped a few photos though I didn't want to disturb his work. Quality isn't that good as I shot through a glass window, however, with the conversion to BW, image quality slightly improved. The craftsman is carving a "forcola" also known as the oarlock. A possible contender for the tools of the trade contest. As always, thank you for looking a leaving a comment.

I saw the title...seen the image and actually thought he was working a 'Mandolin'!...lol (Yeah, I need to see an optician!)

A great shot of a delightful 'workers' workshop!...

Good luck for the contest!

He's probably singing away Gibbs, or at least humming, we just can't hear him.
There is a lot to look at and enjoy in this timeless photo.
B/W makes it even more timeless.
I see the chair is empty, so his wife has left and he can work in peace.
Great entry for the contest.

I too think this would be a great entry to contest and likely not to be repeated by anyone else!

Doug, it's not only a perfect entry for the 'Tools of the Trade' contest, but a excellent entry for the Wednesday B&W challenge as well.
Two chances for the price of one, my friend! LOL!!!
Good Luck with it!

I don't think I've ever seen a contest entry image fit the theme so well as this one does. It's loaded with tools and the craftsmanship necessary to utilize them, and the B&W treatment accents the old world feel perfectly. A winner. No doubt in my mind.

Did the craftsman notice you Doug? I know this genre / subject will be very popular amongst the Caedes community. No doubt it'll do well should you decide to enter it into the current contest. (o:

Holy - not sure you could fill the picture with any more tools. Smart decision going B&W. Wonder who the girl is?
