While walking along the walkway through the swamp I heard a loud banging noise. At first I thought it was the park rangers building something because it was to loud to be a woodpecker. Then I came across this Limpkin who was banging an apple snail on a hollow log trying to crack it open. He didn't have much luck and it wasn't long before he gave up and flew off. >> Thanks to all for comments <<

Ed, for me it's great to see that this series still goes on.
It's a pity that I wasn't able to see your wonderful posts that long.
Great post again my friend. I enjoy it very much!

So, Ed...did you take the apple snail home and have a snack? LOL. Excellent shot of the Limpkin. I like the contrasts between the bird, and the foliage around it. Very nice.

What an awesome photo!! To come upon this must have been pretty special feeling! I love how the snail and the Limpkins orange colour of his beak are almost the same. There is something so special in finding this kind of bird in its own habitat. I love the photo very much. How wonderful you can find photos like this. Verena

That's one tough apple snail. Beautiful capture of this Limpkin ... love the determined look in it's eye even though he / she couldn't crack the snail. Nice detail too. Well done Ed.

Good example of the ways of nature, Ed! A snail would have no chance otherwise. Nice and clear shot of the bird pounding away.

They say the Banana Snails are easier to peel for the Limpkins Huck. A great shot and I liked the narrative. Nice to see you back Down by the Riverside.
