It was a perfect day on Hungry Mother Lake! The pic was snapped with the iPhone. I didn't have the big gun with me.

Well composed shot with the colorful bow of the boat against the dark water.

I agree the composition is spot on, and the color of boat is really cool, I almost feel like I'm in the boat enjoying that view.

I think the big gun would have sunk the boat, and the recoil from firing it would have dropped you back a few miles. A great perspective in the photo and a lovely capture of the scene.

I KNEW we had something in common! My wife and I find nothing to give us a sense of peace as much as kayaking does. With photographs to create permanent memories of your time on the water, it doesn't matter what sort of camera you have along. If your phone photos are a little too coarse for your tastes (and if you run Photoshop), just run one through a Dry Brush, Crosshatch, or Poster Edge filter, and see what you think of the results. I just did exactly that and all three made your photo look like a painting, with the edge lines better defined and the noise either eliminated or enhanced, depending on the filter.

Keep shooting, keep kayaking and happy trails
