Some things in human nature do not change, no matter the years separating them. I see photos of current perpetrators of violence on our society and I look into those faces, wondering what they thought that could possibly push them to act as they did. The same is true of this individual... if he was involved in Lincoln's death, the wiping out of one of the finest, if not THE finest, of American presidents, he would have had to have the fervor of a southern patriot, like John Wilkes Booth. He doesn't appear very happy about his current status, glaring at someone or something out-of-frame.

Rob, what can I say this is outstanding, and really makes me wonder what he was thinking before the arrest (why would he try such a thing) and what he was thinking after being arrested. Bravo, and grab a cookie, and go to the head of the class. tigs=^..^=

Enlarging the 'portrait' of Hartmann Richter and slightly colorizing it was a proper choice, Rob, perfectly done by you. It has enhanced the intriguing character of the original one. If I had lived that time, I didn't like to be with that man in a cell (not in any other cell however, ☺ ).
Great work again, my friend!

The hint of color is brilliant, adds to this photo. Your projects not only enlighten us, but they provide us with original concepts.

Hartman Richter (pictured above and beautifully colorized by Rob) was found to be innocent and was released.

Richter's cousin, George Atzerodt, WAS part of the conspiracy. Atzerodt was supposed to kill Vice President Andrew Johnson, but he chickened out and ran after Booth assassinated Lincoln.

Atzerodt showed up at his cousin's door. Richter, not knowing about his cousin's association with the assassination conspiracy, allowed Atzerodt to stay in his home.

Hartman Richter was found to be innocent and was released. He was a victim in what must have been a nightmare scenario.
