This made me think of Jimmy Brown, The Newsboy Rob.
Many successful businessmen got their start as a newsboy. Hard but honorable work.
Excellent work.

With a name like Russell, this kid must be a really bad seed. All the hard work and do-gooding is just a front, trust me. And I never stereotype. Unless it's this kid. And his name is Russell.

I think when Coppola's people were developing the child character of Vito Andolini, who becomes Vito Corleone at Ellis Island, they could easily have used this boy and his expression and wardrobe as their prime example. He has the look of the Sicilian immigrant from the beginning of the twentieth century. Forget the name for a moment and realize that, like the scene in the movie, his name is misunderstood by the immigration official and he's given the name Corleone, replacing Andolini with the name of his home town. This lad has the look of a hard worker, proud of who he is, and that's supported by his description in the post (folks, for those who don't read Rob's attendant post text, you're losing out).

Into my favorites file.

Rob, this could be an appropriate SONG to accompany the by you perfectly edited and colorized capture.

Great addition to this series again!

Edit: I had already written this comment before I read the similar comment of Tick.

My oldest brother, seven years my senior, had a Grit account when he was 16. Grit was a national paper of general interest that didnt involve established routes, but rather a door-to-door endeavor. He discovered that it was actually work and tried to quit but the Grit people ignored him, continuing to send papers every week (the seller responsible for unsold papersat 25 cents apiece. So he forced them on our middle brother, 3.5 years my senior. Within a week it was dumped on me... I was the youngest so I was stuck. I did learn that I was never going to be a salesman... ever... and it did allow me access to the mysterious world of bars at 8 years of age, but I eventually got a regular route with a local paper, ducking nasty dogs and calling out Collect! every two week. For a youngster, a paper route is a great break-in for business and self motivation. This wee feller looks pretty serious about his job.

Boy, if newspapers were .01, I wonder how many he had to sell to make a penny for himself! I was just trying to remember what I made on my paper route. And, how much work it was for what I made. It was a lot of hard work (especially in the winter) but it put money in my pocket and made me feel like a rich man, err, boy. I used my old red wagon to deliver the paper. Thanks for the memory Rob.
