I would guess this was considered pretty risque back in the day, Rob. She looks a lot more alive in your colorized version. I like the colors you chose. Well done.

She could have been a model in one of my college life drawing courses... without the blanket, of course. After all, this isn't the Victorian era after all (then again, they were often rather risque back then). With the flowers, hair style, and the dark eyebrows on the pale complexion, if I cover most of her face with my thumb she passes for Japanese. An interesting image contrasted by the blanket hanging as an improvised backdrop. (I didn't read the other comments until after I'd typed mine out... funny, but I'm leaving mine as it is... corroboration of how your image is perceived by others).
