You certainly do have your eye on me so I guess I'll save that second piece of cake for after you leave. I feel like I could be his/her dinner by that stare I'm getting!
I'm guessing this is a crocodile? Something unique and interesting about their eyes is a feature called the Fovea, a patch of tightly packed receptors that delivers sharp vision, forming a horizontal streak in the eye instead of the usual circular spot. This allows the croc to scan the shoreline without moving its head. The fovea is a dent in the retina that arises because other cells, which transmit visual information to the brain, are shifted to the sides. It provides animals with an area of very high visual clarity, in a small area of their visual environment. In the case of crocodile, it's spread across the middle of the retina, and it gives them maximum clarity all along the visual horizon. This arrangement enhances the croc's ability to lurk with just its eyes above the water, waiting motionless for prey to wander too close to the water's edge. Incidentally, crocodiles really can sometimes weep while eating, due to physiological reasons, and not the old wives tale concerning the croc's remorse while eating a human. Their eyes can froth and bubble during the feeding from air that gets pushed through the sinuses from the action of their jaw movement. The air gets mixed with tears in the animal's lacrimal (tear) glands and the whole content can be emptied into the eye, resulting in the fake remorse. Your close capture of the eye and the highly textured and tough skin is one of those that gets my favorite selection. Getting to be this close to extreme danger, and still be safe, is the reason scary movies are popular with people.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

The evolution of living things appears to have inherent traits that would protect the species in case of danger, this is a scary close up...just watching and waiting...to make a move? Intriguing capture, quite extraordinary and excellent result.
