Taken in the time when going to the Bahamas was probably still an exotic adventure for only the 'Happy Few' and some 'curious' photographers (☺) , Rob.
Like to say however that Alan Lomax, with his portrait, has succeeded in capturing the uncomplicated exotic/tropical atmosphere.
Your apt and perfect way of colorization gave an extra dimension to this atmosphere.
Very well done again, my friend!

A moment in time captured and likely this woman never saw the photo.
I am sure she would be just delighted to see your coloured version

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Now there's a self-assured young woman, with an air of openness suggested by her arms behind her back and yet a little conservative with her sidelong glance. I opened the link to the original and the washed black & white just looks like a very early National Geographic photo, back when the emphasis was in showing the modern world the very old and hidden world, without too much concern toward photographic quality. I'm sure you've seen some of the old issues of NG. I see that you left the card presentation as it was, a feature of early photographers who were either selling their skills to individuals or were creating an archive. Your choice of coloring is spot-on, the very light yellow of the hat reflecting it's material and the fuchsia adds to her confidence and attitude. Very good choices, Rob. I did play with the image, however, pulling a copy into Photoshop, straightening and cropping it down to the actual photo, then giving it a default tweak in Auto Levels. That little bit of work got rid of the wash and made her even stronger.
