I've been trying to develop a sketching style...and this treatment is a long way from a sketch I uploaded a couple days ago (although significantly faster to do). Neither are what I really want. I have learned that I am too much of a color junkie to ever be happy with a black and white sketch...but I want a mix of the editing I did with the boat and the acceptance of all detail in this pic. Thanks for coming to take a look. If I've done this right the original pic is close to this one in the New Images area.

Like the the first image better Sharon I think its because you lost some of the color in this one maybe some work on the saturation will help the image along.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

I think that all you'd need do, Sharon, is keep it a little darker in levels and raise the vibrance and saturation just a bit. Of course, I'm talking in Photoshop terms, not knowing what program you're using to create this. It is quite nice; I like this illustrative style very much, and this image more than the previous one. The colors and contrast on that other one seemed a bit flat, like I was looking at an Instamatic print photo from the late 60's and early 70's. Remember those? With the fine pebbly surface on the prints?
