Hang gliding at Jocky's Ridge near Nags Head, NC is a big attraction for those wanting to learn to fly. The dunes are less than one mile from the Wright Brother's first flight.

The warm sea breeze that rises against the sand dunes is an excellent condition for hang gliding. Not entirely harmless. In the sand dunes along my coast a hang glider recently crashed as a result of a fall wind, but the fun apparently exceeds the danger.

A pretty cool action shot, Ted. I assume the woman (?) in white is keeping the novice above her from heading off into never-never land by the use of a leash? Incidentally, for you or anyone interested in the Wright brothers and the success of the early development of human flight, I highly recommend reading ^The Wright Brothers^ (ISBN: 9781476728742), by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, David McCullough.
