Ted, I join me in the above comment of Chris when it comes to the saturation, but in fact it's a superfluous remark of mine because you've already said in your narrative that it's not the best photo. Taking this into account, it's a splendid and breathtaking image to me however!
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

Yeah, a little washed, but still definitely descriptive of the scope and depth of the place. The beauty as well, with all those colors as evidence. Sometimes, even the ones we shoot that we don't favor still work.

A little extra saturation with some software may help it look a little more like what you were looking for.
