One of the most interesting places I visited. People have lived there for over 4-5,000 years. It is owned by the Navajo Trust. Around 40 families live in the canyon and farm the land. Of course, they have no patience with tourists on tour. You can only enter the canyon with a Navajo guide and ours provided us with interesting information about the 1800s and what Americans did to the people.

a great capture, Ted! When seen full size, one begins to understand just how massive this canyon is.

Very well done! The indians have my full appreciation of how they lived, and respected the land. tigs=^..^=

It is a cool place to visit, and it's easy to understand the inhabitants lack of patience with gawking interlopers.

Considering my career dealings with Natives of the Northern Plains (and having just returned from the Superior North Shore), I can commiserate with the Navajo vs. touristas. A lovely shot, Ted. I have to wonder if the tracks we see down there are from interlopers racing their ATV's around, thinking of themselves as Mario Andretti, or if they are from the Navajo themselves. My guess is touristas.
