This is only the third Monarch I have seen so far this year, and only the second one I have I have managed to catch with the lens. I was at the local park in town, where I spotted this beautiful Monarch. I hope this will be a good year for them.

I want to thank you for your comments.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I've only seen two so far Sandi but I do usually see more in August than July. Well caught!

Been so rainy here that I haven't seen many butterflies. That is a good capture Sandi.

Life's moments are sweet. I just want to capture all that I can of them.

You got a sharp shot of the monarch Sandi. It has probably something to do with the weather that there are so few to be seen. From the G20 group that met here in Hamburg on Friday and Saturday everyone except one leader agreed to follow the Paris agreement on reducing emissions to slow down global warming. You know who that was.

And the estimate is, Raj, that if we don't do something about it by 2020, it will be irreversible. I still can't believe he's the president!?!?!?!?!?!?

It appears that something's been munching on the petals of the coneflowers, this one in particular. You must be having a dry year like we are, Sandi, right?

I like your pano effect... makes the field of flowers feel even bigger.

Sandi, I agree with Raj's well-thought comment. To my opinion however, the limited presence of butterflies early in the butterfly season is too early to make conclusions. Other indicators should also be taken into account. However, the long time perspective isn't good. Putting the head in the sand like an ostrich, perhaps induced by economic motives, is not a solution. The generation after us will pay the lack of appropriate measures now.

Thanks for this very fine Monarch butterfly image!
