Another fantastic-focus Arecibo capture, Sandi. You know, having seen several photos of yours that involve these large, single-stamen flowers, I have to wonder what it would look like if you were to choose four images that show their stamen at the same angle, then crop each one down to the same scaled square, with the stamen in the exact middle. Then, crop each one down to one-quarter of the photo, with the base of the stamen in a corner. After that you could assemble the four images into one, with the stamen in all originating from the center of the finished photo. Using a faintly opaque overlap, so that one quarter-photo blends into the next, and so on, the finished piece would have four different kinds and colors of petals along the outside, and an alien-weird four-pointed stamen emanating from the center. You could also colorize the petals so all four originals had the same color of petals, making the blending even smoother. Once it was finished and all four layers combined as one (if you are using Photoshop), you could slightly blur the full image and give it a very small twist from the center (5 percent or less). Now that would make for a helluva abstract-using-photos for an entry in the current contest.
Now if all that sounded a bit confusing, I can send you the step-by-step directions I wrote, in Farsi, for setting up a vintage VCR.
