I have finally started seeing the monarch's everywhere I go! I had only seen a few this year, up till now!

This was taken at my friends property that plants a variety every year.

I concentrated mainly on the monarch's since have only seen a few up till lately!

The ones you see now have the longest life span, and will make the long journey soon!

Used the Nikon D500 with the 70-200mm nikor lens, and this did take a crop but opted for more of a presentation showing the flowers as well.

Thank for your comments, and I'm going to catch up with mine. :)

A wonderful capture, Sandi. Not only because of the presence of a Monarch butterfly in the scene, but the subtle colors of the flowers and the environment have a major part in the above qualification for this post.
Love it. Perfectly done again!

Excellent work Sandi - I think the crop leaving some flowers was smart - gives context.

You capture amazing shots of the gorgeous butterflies. We had quite a few up here this summer, lots of yellow swallowtails

I'm glad you left the image less cropped, I LOVE the composition, color, bokeh, and you nailed the focus, a fav for me.

And I have yet to see one in my home state, but saw plenty of them in South Dakota (at a butterfly house--nudge, nudge, wink, wink). You did a beautiful job of composition and DOF on this one, Sandi, the background bokeh spotlighting the flutter so incredibly well. An S&F from me.
