This will be my entry for the contest. It's a black sand shoreline on the island of Kauai showing the power of the crashing waves. This was taken many cameras ago so the quality isn't ideal but the power of the sea is quite clear.

The power of the ocean waves always amazes me whenever I'm at the beach - you captured the scene wonderfully Kathy - I like the people and the driftwood as well - both provide good scale - Great Capture!!!!!!!!

I can feel the power, and I'm thinking it could knock over a short person like me. This makes a good contest entry. tigs=^..^=

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

My nephew was stationed there while in the Army, and he and his wife always talk of these beaches with total admiration. I am sure this one would bring back many memories for them. I do like the way the lesser pixels make the image appear as though it was painted, something that brings back many memories for me, and in particular that crashing wave on the far right. Very nice, Kathy, and best of luck with it in the contest. I see that Johns plea to the membership is having a positive effect; we have eight entries so far, practically a record!

Happy trails

Kathy, I've read in the discussion board (Thanks to Mimi) that you've reached the 3rd place in the 'Water' contest.

My congratulations with this result!
