Heather is actually an evergreen plant which you can tell from the visible branches here - looks rather like Christmas needles. Very common in The British Isles and other places in Europe - not so common in the USA but can be grown here. This is my Friday foofy for this week.

Kathy, blooming moors were a familiar sight in my little country. Meanwhile, the situation has changed mainly because of nitrogen problems. They are trying with all their might to change this, but with little success at the moment.
I hope that in the near future one will be able to see moors again with a splendor that is comparable to your beautiful photograph.
In any case, a very nice Foofy Friday (F²) contribution.

I had read about heather in book after book set in the British Isles, most often a volume about Sherlock Holmes, but I never thought to consider they might be first, a flowering plant, and second, in the evergreen family (now there's a bone to pick with Arthur Conan Doyle... oh wait... never mind). In fact, I thought heather was more like our sage brush or buck brush. This is beautiful, and your macro shows it off so dad-burned well, Kathy. I'm stealing a copy for my favorites file. ;o]
