These are hardy perennials and come in blue. purple pink and white. I see mostly blue ones. I always found the center interesting as it looks like a spider. They got their name from, as you can see in background, the bud looks like a balloon. The botanical name is Platycodon. My foofy for this Friday.

Kathy, the white version of the Platycodon is not very familiar to me, but the blue one is. They are typical flowers that, as you have already expressed in your narrative, show a balloon-shaped shape shortly before they open.

I'm always happy to see these balloon flowers because they're so distinct as compared to other flowers - Very Nicely Done for Foofy Friday Kathy!!!!!!!!!

Now if there was a curly-haired face in the middle of that flower I'd think I was in Busby Berkely Land. Floral prefection!
