My first try on the birds! Just an ordinary house sparrow in my garden waiting for a place at the feeder. All advice is very welcome.

Thanx for your visit, as always very much appreciated :o)

Well this is different from you Els, Even though the background is dark, the bird stands out nicely. Which lens did you use for this good birdie capture. I also take my av setting down as low as I can get it for my bird shots, and that I can achieve well with the canon 70-200mm f/4L lens. Very nice first attempt, kudos!

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Good good timing, as I like the blurred bird in the background as much as I like the posturing captured of the forefront one.

In short, an interesting composition that 'speaks' to your viewer(s).

Clarity and focus are good good, too.

Caveats?

Suggestion.

And here is my go to tutorial on the notes of exposure..

And echoing the above comments, for a first foray into fowl photography.. nicely done. :o)
