David...Beautiful capture of this lovely beast. Great colors, excellent clear and detail on the snake’s head and the lichens on the bark and a glorious unfocused background make this shot a keeper. Splendid posting, and welcome back from wherever you went.

Nice use of DoF to get an impression of depth, even along the length of the snake. I think a slight darkening of the background would make the snake stand out more and perhaps added to the drama. Nice shot all the same.

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
