Artist Spotlight #23

Submitted by Piner 03/01/07 4:18 AM GMT

For our newest Artist Spotlight we present to you Mick, better known as LANJOCKEY around here on caedes.net. Be sure to browse and leave comments in his gallery of gorgeous scenic images.

I feel humble and honored to have been nominated for the Artist Spotlight… Many, many thanks to all artists at Caedes who nominated me… To tell you the truth this actually scares the hell out of me…. What have I done to deserve this?

To acquaint you with the specifics of my background…My name is Mick Light, born in Surrey,England… I moved with my parents to a small village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland where I was educated before enlisting into the Royal Navy and served for 36 years… I have been married for 35 years and have two wonderful sons and one beautiful 2 year old granddaughter who is the apple of my eye… At present I reside in the beautiful county of Cornwall, England.

I found Caedes whilst surfing the internet… I found that Caedes opened a whole New World of opportunity for all of us artists. With the vast amount of pictures available to view it has never been easier to communicate with such wonderful people on this site.

I love to paint landscapes in oils, but I am afraid my photography has taken over from the canvas and paint brush…..It wasn’t long ago that my fascination with digital photography began. At that time I was impressed with the potential of this technology offered to photographers, that was four years ago.

At present I use a Fujifilm Finepix S6O2-Zoom and with this camera I try to produce images that communicate ideas or feelings, document times past and glimpse of societies, people and places.

I love to view other artists pictures and I must say they are all wonderful… I always remind myself that every image on Caedes is precious to the person that posted it.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all viewers for looking at my pictures and for the recognition, it is so much appreciated… Thank you again.

Mick (LANJOCKEY)

Kia Ora and Congratulations Mick ! A well deserved honour. Your destinctive pictures are alway a joy, and you manage to convey more than just a good photograph - along with it comes atmosphere, poetry and feeling.
You also have the gift on many occassions of seeing in the work of others exactly what they were trying to convey, and that you take the time to pass this on is much appreciated and can often make a day much brighter. I am sure many along with me would thank you for that.
I trust we can look forward to many more of your beautiful and inspirational works.
Enjoy your spotlight !!

Hello Mick
As you know already, I'm an Aberdeenshire lass. At that time I was into Box Brownie shots - lol! Not up to the standards required on Caedes. You show Scotland in a wonderful light - and I'm so pleased you do. Beautiful work, keep it up!

Hi Mick, who happens to be the star of Caedes today and basking in the 'sparkle' of his own 'Spotlight'! A well diserved honor goes to a very special and talented photographer, and to a very nice person as well!! I have learned from you one very important and essentail fact about photography! That being, that before the camera is actually in use and the photograher is assessing his surroungdings, and about to put into photo, a nice composition, it is very important to compose one's self, as well!! While doing this, you then plan the image, a mental picture of your creation, and the message you hope to convey to the recepient! If the message is received in kind, we have composed a well thought out image and presented it well! For me, with your work, this has happened often! I hope I remembered that right! Very important information, and thank you! I have admired your splended work for a long time, and never ceased to enjoy each and every piece! Your landscapes are unique Mick, in every way that counts! They are superior in quality and refinement!! You should wear this well earned honor with pride and joy! Congratlulations, Mick, Sincerely, Marilyn

Congrats, Mick -- you are so deserving of this! You are the master of color and lighting. It's hard to believe that you've only been at this for four years, but then the fact that you are a painter rather explains your relatively instant success. -Donna

Well, well. Just noticed this. So, you don't know what you have done to deserve the spotlight? Absolutely HILARIOUS! Your photography work has mesmerized me from the day I first discovered it. As someone else said, it is indeed distinctive. The way you manipulate light and color is marvelous. Whenever your name shows up on my friends list notifying me that you have posted something,(which isn't often enough) I can't wait to download it and view it. I know I am in for a treat.
One other thing, congratulations for serving your country for 36 years. How marvelous and indicative of your character. Congrats Mick. Trust me, you well deserved this.

Congratulations. It is a well deserved recognition.

You are one of the artists that I will show their work to people unfamiliar with the site. It doesn't take much after that ... your images speak volumes.

Hope I'm not too late in extending congratulations to you Mick. I'd hate to have missed this tribute to one of my favorite Photographers (capital "P"). It took but a single image of yours to appear on my screen to convince me to add you as a friend. I didn't want to miss a single image posted by LANJOCKEY. You are the master of composition and light. Enjoy the "Spolight" and recognition due you ... and finally, accept my sincere Thanks for providing the members and myself with extraodinary images that delight the senses as a result of your dedication to perfection. Well Done my friend and Well Deserved.
