Hi there. Maybe you'll not believe me, but I NEVER do alpine ski. All alpine photos here were taken during some treks with snow shoes. I think you'll ever find more beautiful and virgin landscapes with snow shoes... Thanks :-)

hi there caedes, I am having problems uploading pics, I just get a blank caedes box(Where it should say it uploaded) any thoughts? Love the site!

Hi Caedes, There is something wrong with my picture "Feasting". It was put on the permanent gallery not too long ago. Now it is linked back to "new images" again. But, I can't find it in New Images or the permanent gallery. But, it's not deleted.
What happened to it??

*caedes

Sounds like it has been archived. There is a recent news article about the change.

-caedes

::raiden747

But what I don't understand is why would a picture be put in a permanent gallery with a C index of 83 for two weeks and then be archived??
Especially since the permanent Butterfly gallery only has four pages??
I honestly think mine is better than some of the ones on there.

Your are a student???????????
I gotta say im impressed. Great Website.

Accolades to you. i want to tell you that i think your website is awesome. i like the communication, the putting up and critiquing of photographs and just the general attitude of the members. i read what you said about grad school and what could be done with the site. i don't have an answer and hope there's a way to keep it going. i personally am happy that you are inerested in photography other than wallpaper since much of what i see posted is great stuff but not great wallpaper (including mine) jen

Hi Caedes, I have voted on at least 20 images in the last month...while deciding what to post...it will not let me upload an images til I vote again...for 10 images...I am still confused about this...help...please!

.151515

Hello Caedes! My image Quiet Escape is an older image and it seems to be out of the voting system because it has no votes at the moment, so if you could maybe look into that, I would appreciate it very much... thanks a lot :)

Maybe the best website on the web. I think it is awesome...off the hook...kewl...and way groovy. I'm thankful to be a member of such a top notch site with a wonderful bunch of people. It gives us a great opportunity to show our wares and learn from some top notch photographers and artists. You are to be commended for your great work with this site and it's community. I will defend you to the death.

Yes, I have never seen a water tank constructed like that since. And I'll bet it's still there-21 years later. Thanks for responding.
And by the way, in reference to what DigCamMan said about this web site a few spaces above-AMEN! I have had more fun on this web site than 10 monkies on a yard of vine!

Ditto to above statements. I'm totally addicted to Caedes. And you've inspired me in everything that I do with my digital camera. I only got it in Ocotber 2005 when my husband bought it for my birthday. I thougth it a waste of money, but OH BOY.. now i enjoy it, and all my free time I spend outside looking for things to shoot. :) Thanx Caedes, for a great site, and for all the nice and interesting people that help make it a great place to be.

Thanks, Caedes, for the incredible website. I escape here, I travel here, I relax in beauty here. You make my desktop an artpiece for my living room. The site is well-designed and easily navigated. Let's see . . . what other high praise can I offer . . . well, your karma really is massive. And I agree with all the previous positive comments, too! Have a great day, caedes!

re:deleting comments. your explanation is absolutely right on, and i agree. i have never said anything in a comment that i wanted to get rid of. i have, however pushed the "post" button more than once and of course duplicate comments show up. i then feel like an idiot and want to get rid of one. that's why i asked. as far as keeping the messages, i would do the same thing you're doing. it's kind of like keeping cancelled checks rather than paying in cash so you have a record. i guess i see how many messages i have now and can only imagine how many i'll have in a year or more.

speaking of cash the dues i paid at first is supposed to be for 3 months i think, then do i get a reminder? i am one of those guys who would definitely pay for the full frame thing. the donation thing sounded a little vague.........OR am i the one who is vague. thanks,,jen

you know, they just don't call that a slot canyon. i'ts actually the west fork of oak creek canyon which in itself is spectacular. check out kaibito, upper antelope, lower antelope. they're the real slot canyons. the entry is very narrow and at kaibito it stays so narrow that you couldn't set up a tripod. thanks for writing to me! i hope you'll continue to look at my things. we are going back to red rock country for a long weekend. it will be fun but HOT! jen

Loved those words of wisdom on the latest "Praetor Maximus Editorial - 03/06"...Sad, but true about "Otherwise lost in deviantArt" (or the dA)...without Caedes, we could easily find our works buried within Animae rips, BDSM enshrinment, fetish art, skin peeps, death, goth, gore, gangsta art, goofy .gif animation, crash & burn flash presentations, and countless illustrations of "weird debauchery" ("But Ma, I don't have any homework tonight!")...I'm glad you've created this site...Thank you! -Ron

Caedes,
Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed this site since I've joined, which was quite a while ago (in 02 shortly after it was created apparently :P)! I've never really been all too active till recently but for the past 4 years I've enjoyed the images that your site allows me to have the privelage and joy of viewing. Since I've discovered this site I don't believe I've had a wall paper on my desktop that I didn't pull from Caedes.net, and it's one of the few wallpaper sites that is genuinely dedicated to the appreciation of art, and free to boot! Another great thing is that gov't computers/networks don't block this site, which works great for armed services members like myself. Well anyways, I figure since I am being more active now, and part of the caedes cadre and all, I thought it appropriate to finally say thank you for this awesome social playground. It's been a pleasure Caedes, and will be for quite a while ;) Have a great day!

Very addictive website this and much graciousness on exhibit (no pun) by the addictees.
Surely you have had help along the way from some dedicated devotees.
By the way, I find your icon a bit fearsome. Did you ever consider changing it?
Why have you not posted any submissions in awhile?

P.S. Somewhere on this site, I read that caedes is not a real account, but a placeholder. If so, who submitted the art work under this name?

.ArcieMay

i think that you should have to vote/comment on someones art before you download it... that would help with the whole lack of votes and comments thing....i know you have the voting booth but i think this would maybe work better.... just a thought

Good to hear from you on "Farm-back-yard animals" -- They lined themselves up that way really, so it was a natural comp. I am learning to use the middle focal lengths of my telephoto zoom better though, so I'm glad this one turned out well. I'm glad you liked it, thanks again for your thoughtful comment!

Thank you kind sir for your comments about “The Old Shed”. I wouldn’t say fog always improves an image but it does provide some wonderful artistic opportunities. I’ve always enjoyed wondering around in fog, perhaps because it’s quite a rare event here but mainly because of the surreal look it gives to ordinary scenes.

Hi Caedes! Just a note of thanks for your great website! I've been posting on here for sometime now (about 8 months) & never thought of coming by to pay my respects! I've really made some great friends on here, even internationally which is real cool!! Its great to meet people from literally all over the world on one website. It's also peaked my interest in photography and I am upgrading my camera to a more professional type because of it. Thanks again for all you've done here! ~Dan

Hey Caedes,

I just had a problem on the sight. I was wondering if you might be able to help me out.

I was asked by you to comment on a picture called, "Buddah", and I did so. I put my comment down, and let them know that I liked the color, the focus, the composition, and the placement. But I also said that I didn't like the subject matter because I was a Christian. I was very careful not to be offensive, in fact I made sure to say I was not attacking anyone, just being honest. I was as friendly as possible, and I even said that if they had any questions or complaints, that they could PM me and I would be happy to answer any questions they might have.

Imagine my distress when I came to the sight today to find an abrasive, rude message from a character named "Savage" saying that he had responed to my "intolerant" comments, and that he was happy my comment had been deleted. I was flabbergasted! I checked, and indeed, my comment had been deleted, and not only that, but there was an unhappy message from Savage in its place. I was hurt, and very sad when I saw it. I had not been contacted by the poster of the picture to say that they were offended or angered by my comment, and I had not even been given the opportunity to explain myself or show that I had been asked to comment on the picture by the site!

I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Not to insult you, or to show you that I am angry. I'm not, just hurt. I only wanted to let you know so that you might be able to rectify the situation, so that it might not happen again.

I hope you have a good day. I hope all is well in your life, and I am praying for you.

I am a little bit new on your side, but it is time to say Thank You. In a way, your webpage already changed my life. I only took from time to time a photo with my husbands camera - most of the time a photo of my husband. Sometimes I also did some shots with my mobile phone. Since I am here, I have got a camera and I spend a lot of time, walking through Vienna, my hometown, and look for shots. The community here is very kind and funny. So your project is a hit and I am sure, that your life will be one of sucess.

I love this site very much but object strongly to the way your moderators handle rejecting images. I have had two images rejected recently and have received the standard, and in my opinion patronising, rejection message. This message tells me nothing about why my image was really rejected. Wouldn't it be better if the moderator actually told the photographer why it was rejected?

Hello...I wanted to say thanx for the nice orderly thing you did with the "Subscriptions" I like how we can look and check it and then mark "Process checked". I also like the way the "Favorites" is now. It's all so much easier to take care of. I noticed that the "attitudes" here in caedes seems to be so much nicer too. I know I stay here due to the really good community feelings. I've met some great friends and see such fantastic photos and art creations. I really feel comfy here....So a bigtime thank you to you...Verena
