The swan back photo was taken in full sunlight at iso 80, can't do much more than that, the rest of it's up to the camera, which apparently doesn't like dark brown feathers! Anything I did to mask or reduce the grain also lost detail and as detail was my main interest in that photo I ultimately left it the way it is, grain and all. Ah for the good old days when there was no noise. :)
