2nd place
Piazza Unita` d'Italia by mirto56

photoeye68: Really amazing and beautiful night photograph. You have a great eye, Doug.

corngrowth: Congratulations Doug for your 2nd place in this contest!

Nikoneer: What strikes me here is the absence of color in the facades, or perhaps it's simply monotone (I'd have to see the same scene in daylight to be sure), and the other is trying to think of what the purpose in those sub-piazza (hah!... spelled it right) lights might be. Are they there to provide a guide to tipsy wine lovers as they meander through the area at night? Is this Italy's largest human chess board, with the game played only after sundown (vampires? Hmmmm...)? Airport landing lights for city bats, organized by the "Tutela Pipistrelli?" Whatever the case, it's an interesting shot, perfect for the contest, and the next time there's a light fog rolling through the piazza you have to get out there. Imagine what thin columns of synchronized light, shining up through a haze would look like on "film?" Amazing, I'm betting.

3rd place
Moonlight Moods! by Dunstickin

0930_23: It would make a great entry Owd Timer. Looks like a good cover for a novel jacket. Perhaps the sequel to "Old Man and The Sea."
You could call it "Old Man Lost At Sea."
