Our next Artist of the week is Mayne with a majority of four nominations. As one of the longer term members on the site, he has a large gallery containing some exceptional photographs, so be sure to check it out! Once again we have the privilege of being able to learn a little more about our featured artist, thanks to a bio provided by Darryl as follows:

Mayne: Thank you for choosing me as the Artist of the Week; it is a wonderful honour to have a special place among the talented people who make up the population at Caedes. I am married to Shannon, my companion of 9 years, and we have two dogs, Stuart and Daphne, whom you may have already met on Caedes. They almost always get to join me on my excursions to take pictures and sometimes ruin what would have been an excellent shot by placing their rears in the view at the last second. I love them anyway though. I have also been trying to increase Shannon’s interest in photography, but to little avail. I was born in Campbell River, B.C. in 1969 (Gosh, was it that long ago already??), and spent the first 7 formative years of my life growing up in Gold River. After moving to Saskatchewan, I picked up photography as a hobby in my teens. I was about 15 when I received my first real camera – a Yashica SLR – for Christmas. I moved back to the B.C. coast about 14 years ago, and have gone back to photography in a bigger way than ever in the last three years (wow, since finding Caedes…hmmm, go figure). I am the proud owner of a Canon 20D digital SLR now, and have 4 lenses that go with it, macro, zoom, wide angle and general purpose. I found Caedes when I did a Dogpile search for desktop wallpaper and have been hooked ever since. Everyone and the comments and tips that they give have inspired me to become a better photographer and use the tools of digital enhancement to their maximum benefit. I will never forget Pierre’s first comment on one of my pictures (Westwood Lake); I was so excited that someone had commented on my first image! I can’t really say what my favourite image is…there are so many, and I’m very picky about what I post. It is quite exciting to see the improvements made by artists when they receive feedback, and watch how their pictures get better and better. Thank you again for this honour. You are next! I look forward to seeing each one of you and your biographies in future AOTW announcements.
