I know there are a lot of dog & cat owners here on the site from the US, so I just thought I'd post these links for your information as I don't know how widely reported it has been yet and the parent company of the brands involved - Menu Foods - is playing the whole situation down as 'a few isolated complaints'.

A large batch of their pet foods is proving fatal to animals - in particular cats, that eat it causing acute organ failure and death within a few days. this has happened both to consumers and to Menu Foods test animals that also tried it. the urgent recall applies to a lot of popular brands including IAMS, Science Diet, Eukanuba etc.
