Canada's New Government Provides Free Online Access to Digital Mapping Data

In the words of Mauricio @ DSL-Reports

The maps are in GeoTIFF format - this is essentially a TIFF file with coordinate data embedded. Opening them with GIS software allows you to measure distance, import GPS waypoints and do all sorts of things with GIS layers. But if you are low tech like me, you can just open them in Photoshop, crop to your hearts content, and be happy you don't have to pay $12 a pop for this type of map any longer!
