For me Art has the same formula as Communication. A Sender with a message, A Distance, and a Receiver. Exactly the same formula as when we talk with another person.
In music we can feel the message behind the music,the wish and intention to express an emotion for the receiver...For that the Musician also needs some technique so he can transform his emotional feeling to waveforms through his instrument.
Art is a way to effect other people by different emotional tone levels..The big question is if the Artist have an interest to communicate with his work of Art, or if he just search for other peoples acknowledges, the Glory, or maybe he is not even awared that he actually communicates something...
The great thing when we communicate with Art is that we can create a bigger impact to the viewer because we can integrate our messages with colours,different techniques,sound,light, etc and give the viewer more perceptions triggered,and therefore a more powerful impact.. When i talk about the spirituell aspects i talk about the intention and the feelings that we INCLUDE in our work of Art,
So from an Alien perspective i think that the wish to communicate something and the spirituell intention that is included in our work is definately as important as a good technique, because otherwise its likely as taking part of an empty perfectly made message without any meaning or intention...
And i think Homo Sapiens feels the difference...;-) / Blitz
