The dino game was introduced in September 2014 by the Chrome User Experience team at Google. Internally, the project was known as Project Bolan, named after Marc Bolan, the lead singer of the band T. Rexa fun nod to the dinosaur theme.
The idea was simple: transform the dreaded No Internet screen into something playful. Instead of just seeing a connection error, users would be greeted by a charming 8-bit style T-Rex. Pressing the spacebar would bring the dinosaur to life, launching an endless side-scrolling adventure through a prehistoric desert.
Initially, the game was only available on desktop versions of Chrome, but due to its popularity, it was later adapted for mobile devices as well.
