Extending 12 miles from the Juneau Icefield to Lake Mendenhall, the Mendenhall Glacier was one of the most spectacular sights we saw during a recent cruise to Alaska. This glacier has receded nearly a half mile during my lifetime and the rate of recession appears to be increasing.
