Little Turtle or Vanesse nettle, Aglais urticae L., or Nymphalis urticae, is a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae, the subfamily Nymphalinae and tribe Nymphalini. The name is a tribute to Aglais Aglaia, that is to say Aglaé. It was one of the three Graces (called Three Graces in Romans), that of dazzling beauty, splendor. The term refers to urtica the main host plant of the caterpillar of this butterfly, Urtica dioica, the stinging nettle.
