... or "You can't see the forest for the trees".
Lacking a suitable image for the current contest - trees. I was left with no choice; outside of not entering the contest; but to seek out the quintessential embodiment of treedom. Now you would think that trees would be easy to find, after all they do "grow on trees" in a manner of speaking. But apparently I missed that memo. I'm not saying I looked near and far but I did look high and low. Particularly the low bit as it reduces the neck strain and lets you see where you are walking. You try wandering around in a forest looking up and see how far you get before some malicious tree trips you with a root. I got exactly 13 feet, 7 and 5/16 inches, give or take a 64th of an inch. That's when I noticed this spruce cone lying there in front of me on the ground. Well I was there, it was there and a camera was nearby. So why not I said to myself and to the squirrel sitting on a stump having a chuckle. Photos were taken and conefire was exchanged with the now retreating squirrel.
This is not the shot I ended up with. This is two photos heavily edited and manipulated to look like one shot.
