This is the result of walking through Ian's tutorial for Incendia, a 3d fractal program.

Notes: I followed Ian's tutorial to the 'T' and then made some very minor changes, after clicking through several fractals to find a version I liked, to 'tune it in.' Render time is 7 hours for this. Several more hours were probably needed for this as, if you look closely, there are several blemishes that had not cleaned up yet. But I did want to keep the time to a reasonable limit. Since I added a touch of volumetric fog (outer glow and light streaking) to the piece (yes Ian, I am determined to get a handle on that portion of the program-lol ;) I believe it added greatly to the render time needed to smooth out the shapes. As Ian noted, it appears to render indefinitly so you just have to keep an eye on it and pull the plug when you are happy with the render.

Incendia is a work in progress, offered free of charge, and is fun to play with once you have a clue. Cudos to Ian for putting together a tutorial that insures you actually render something your first time into the program (unlike my first few fruitless attempts). Being a developer myself, I know how time consuming develpment of something like this is and I hope you will give a small donation to Axion if you like Incendia.
