Back in October 2005 took this picture I took a picture of two palm trees on the banks of the Hillsborough river that looked somewhat like a lollipop in the evening light. Here's the same palms 9 years later. It's somewhat surprising they are still there, palms along the river usually become uprooted and fall into the water being that their root system isn't designed to support them in the sandy soil. Most of the river bank hundreds of years ago was old growth cypress trees much like you see in Louisiana. Much of the mentioned cypress was cut down during the turn on the century and hauled away.
