A close-up shot of this undoubtedly beautiful, yet extremely invasive insect. They were introduced to the Americas from their natural home in Japan, they are now widespread across the country and seriously detrimental to around 200 species of native plants. I find it very sad that such a pretty little creature has caused so much damage through no fault of its own. We should try to be more responsible with the introduction of potentially harmful foreign species.
