Winter Dawn over Blue Skin Bay at Waitati, Otago NZ. When the tide is in black swans abound here and when it recedes many wading birds are seen on the mudflats. The Maori name of the area is Waitete which means Lake of the Blue Ducks or muddy water. Blue Skin Bay was so named by whalers, after a heavily tattooed Maori who lived in the area. I have a liking for this picture because I do not see many dawns :) I have spent some time removing power lines from it. 2 MP so it may not display well in larger resolutions.
