There must be zillions of pictures of Stonehenge. I took several, some from more interesting angles than this one but I like this popular view the best. I was fortunate enough to visit early in the day before too many people arrived, and the sky obliged with a nice bit of cloud. It is a place I have long wanted to see and I found it quite awesome. ~~~~~~~~ Stonehenge - a megalithic monument on the Salisbury Plain in England. It consists of a ditch and bank surrounding huge stones -- many weighing between 1 and 45 tons -- arranged in circle and horseshoe patterns, along with a lane connecting it to the River Avon. Construction began around 3,000 B.C. and continued until about 1,100 B.C. The stones were transported from other areas, some hundreds of miles away. 25 generations worked on this massive structure.
