The Dome of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. This was the last great design of Michelangelo, who died in 1624, two years before its completion ~ ~ ~ I would have preferred not to frame this but any larger and clarity was lost. I was reasonably pleased with the way it turned out as it is 136 metres high and 43 metres in diameter and my zoom was only 3x. The hazy blue bits are from the light streaming in the windows at the top. ~ ~ ~ Inscription: S. PETRI GLORIAE SIXTVS PP. V. A. M. D. XC. PONTIF. V.
