Lake Pukaki in the Mackenzie Basin, South Island, New Zealand, with the backdrop of Aoraki Mt Cook and the Southern Alps which are 70 kilometres in the distance. The lake is at an altitude of 480 metres above sea level. The glacial feed to the lakes in this area gives the beautiful blue colour. . .
