Continuing along State Highway 83, North Otago, New Zealand this is the Aviemore Dam, where the water churns down from the man-made Lake Aviemore into the Waitaki River. Together with the Waitaki Dam and the Benmore Dam (our next stop) these dams comprise the Waitaki River Hydroelectric sytem which provides 30% of NZ's hydoelectric generation.
