The Kowhai tree is a New Zealand native and provides a blaze of spring colour.
Kowhai is the Maori word for yellow.
I am fortunate to have a large specimen in my garden (now grown taller than the house)
The blossom nectar is loved by the Tui but I have not been lucky enough to have one visit. Very occassionaly I get a Bellbird though :)
