Elephant Rocks in North Otago, New Zealand, are a collection of large weathered limestone rocks located on a private farm, in the Maerewhenua Valley. The formations vary in size from 1 to10 metres (3 to33 ft) over an area of about 200 sq metres (660 sq ft) across.
The rocks are the weathered remnants of the Otekaike Limestone formation which lies above the Oligocene Kokoamu Greensand. They were formed about 25 million years ago 75-100 deep in the sea. Traces of the seafloor are still visible as horizontal lines.

The Elephant Rocks area was used as a location for the first Chronicles of Narnia movie in 2005 when it was transformed into Aslan's camp.

It was an late afternoon and overcast when we visited last Sunday. Taken with Panasonic TZ60
