I have captured this scene more times than I can remember, so some of you may recognize it. In all the years I have never seen it so empty of birds, as it was today. There is often standing room only for them. There is a group of seagulls part way down, and beyond that just a few Otago Shags which are the 'owners' of the wharf. We could see some straw coloured mounds which could be nests. Maybe the adults were away fishing. It was remarkably quiet!
