Later on from Harcourt Hill, probably as much as fifteen minutes after sunset. Originally the foreground was almost entirely dark but still contained details so I simply selected the foreground with a good feather on the selection and played with the curves till there was more visible detail in the foreground while retaining a good tone match with the sky. This shoot was a good lesson in composition. Originally I set up on the face of the hill near the top for maximum uninterrupted view of the sky. The clouds were not super helpful, too dense and consistent for a great sunset with lots of pattern in the sky so by the time the sun had set I was thoroughly bored with the sky and figured I'd try some other spot on the hill just for the hell of it. Going down the hill and round it put that tree between me and the horizon and this shot resulted, which I think is much more interesting than the ones I was trying to get earlier. So I learned the uninterrupted view is not always the best photograph. :)

Enjoy.

Mikel.
